These Terms govern your use of Tactical Path, a chess assessment and education platform accessible via app.tacticalpath.co.za.
1. Introduction & Acceptance
Welcome to Tactical Path, a chess assessment and education platform accessible via app.tacticalpath.co.za. By creating an account and using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with these Terms, please refrain from using our services.
2. Eligibility
Tactical Path services are designed for intermediate chess students aged 12-25. By using our platform, you confirm that you are at least 12 years old. If you are a minor (under 18 years old), you must have parental or guardian consent to use our services. Our platform is available globally, subject to applicable laws.
3. Account Registration
To access our services, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration, maintain the confidentiality of your password and account credentials, notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account, and be responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Services Description
Tactical Path offers: Assessments (personalized chess skill evaluations), Puzzle Engine (access to a wide range of chess puzzles), Study Plans (customized plans based on AI analysis and expert feedback), Stockfish Bots (play against various levels of Stockfish-powered bots), and AI Coaching (tailored coaching sessions utilizing AI technology).
5. Pricing & Payment
Our services are offered through: Free Tier (limited access), Monthly Subscription ($9.99/month), Annual Subscription ($79/year), Lifetime Access (one-time payment of $199). Payments are processed securely through Denovo. No refunds are available for completed assessments.
6. User Conduct
Users must adhere to fair play principles. You agree not to engage in cheating or exploit the assessment engine, or attempt to reverse engineer or tamper with our platform.
7. Intellectual Property
Tactical Path owns all rights, title, and interest in the platform, assessment methodology, and original content. Users retain ownership of their assessment results and progress data.
8. Third-Party Content & Open Source
Our platform integrates: Stockfish Chess Engine (GPLv3, attribution on /attributions page), Lichess Puzzle Database (CC0), YouTube Embeds (for educational purposes). Visit our attributions page for full details.
9. Limitation of Liability
Tactical Path is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee rating improvement. Our liability is limited to the fees paid by you for our services.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We retain the right to maintain data as required by law. Refunds for terminated accounts are subject to our refund policy.
11. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by South African law, with recognition of our global user base. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in accordance with South African regulations.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms with 30 days' notice. Continued use of our services after changes indicates acceptance of the new Terms.
